putting in a video player

Hi, I recently got a mac, and I am a novice at using this software, but I want to make a website that is not based on templates, like most of the amateur ones seem to be… but I also don’t know any code so…

1.Does this mean that this software is too complicated, and is not for me?

  1. How in as simple a way as possible, do you embed several videos on one page all playing in individual players, or is this not possible?

Any help would be great! ; )

Hard to say - we’ve not even been introduced!
Seriously though, it is basically a page layout task. If you can
understand the basic idea of using boxes to hold things in place in a
page design, you’re well on your way.

It certainly is possible… but…

When you put something into a page, and then someone visits that
page, their browser will request all of the data that is ‘in’ that
page. This includes the videos, which will start to download in the
background. This could mean that they’ll have to wait for a very long
time before things have downloaded. If they just want to see one
video, the downloading of that one will be slowed right down because
all the others are also downloading, taking up their bandwidth.

There are various ways to get around this. One simple solution is to
give people a page full of thumbnail images of each video, just
simple still graphics, and make each image link to a different page
that has that particular video in place. That means they’ll only be
downloading a large video clip when they’ve specifically asked for
it. It is also a relatively easy thing for you to set up, too!

Congratulations on getting a Mac by the way. I’m sure you’ll soon
wonder why it took you so long to get around to it!

Freeway is not complicated to use; even building a page from scratch is easy. As you get deeper into the possibilities for your site there are sophisticated options you can use, but building a functional, cool-looking site is pretty simple. Take a look at the introductory videos on the Softpress site.

About your video question: I’m not an expert in this area but I believe it’s as simple as creating a ‘box’ for your video and dragging it in from the desktop or Freeway’s media file. Softpress has an excellent support team that can help if you have specific questions.

Cheers,
Jim
