QT Reference Movie Action

Hi All,

I cannot get the QT Ref Movie Action to work. It seems so simple.

I draw a graphic box, drop a .mov file in and apply the action. I have the 2 iphone movies generated and select a poster frame.

In preview, everything looks fine. I upload and see the movies in the Resource folder, but when loading the page, I get the slash through the play button icon.

When I simply place a m4v on my page, it works fine on the iPhone. The reason I want to use the action is because it’s easier and it uses a poster frame.

I am using 5.3.2 on iPhone OS 2.x.

Am I missing something? Didn’t see anyone having this issue on the forum.

Thanks.

Hi George,

Strange that it would work locally but not on the server, have you a
link you can send so we can see the page?

Thanks,
Joe

Sure.

I have the iPhone Redirect action applied to this page:

http://reeltimedvd.com/new_site/chironhomepage2d.html

You can go directly to the page here:

http://reeltimedvd.com/new_site/homepageiphone.html

BTW, what is the screen size for Safari on the iPhone, I can’t find it anywhere.

Thanks.

The default viewport size is 960px wide by whatever length. It doesn’t
matter if you rotate the screen or not, if you haven’t set the
viewport meta tag (there’s a setup item for this in Freeway now) to a
different size, then that’s the dimension it assumes your site is.

There doesn’t appear to be a reference movie up on your server. Make
sure you generate a movie for both EDGE and 3G and try uploading again.

The m4v and poster frame .jpg are in the Resources folder. Do both EDGE and 3G files need to be there?

Thanks.

If the page is 960px wide, what length would fit everything on the screen in portrait?

Yes, if they aren’t then the movie won’t play on the iphone. Follow
the steps here:

It works now that I have both movie files loaded.

When I am on 3G (at least that’s what the phone says) it is playing the 3gp version. When its connected via WiFi it shows the m4v version.

Anyone else ever seen that problem?
