RAM question for iMac G5 1.6Ghz

An enquiry for a friend of mine. Her iMac has a spare slot for a RAM upgrade. She has 256Mb installed, so presumably another 256Mb is the machine’s limit is it? Or can it take 2 x 512Mb. And what kind of RAM should I be looking for?

Cheers!

As long as the dramm is the same speed rating as the original 256mb module, she can use any size really. Could put two 1gb modules in there. They just have to have the same dramm chip type and speed rating.

Your friend can go to crucial.com and enter her particular machine
information and she will get all the answers she needs to make a RAM
decision.

Pick the machine and it will give you the right RAM for the job.

According to my research, the machine can take up to two 1GB DIMMs,
currently listed at £36.79 each, so why not get her to maximise the RAM?

Yes I agree thanks Heather, I can’t believe she has been running Photoshop 7 and Illustrator 10 on 256Mb!! Still, don’t think Adobe had got round to creating bloatware at that point.
