create a nice looking CSS inflow grid on the master page then I drag it to the pages and it just pings all over the place?
What you you mean by “then I drag it to the pages”? If you make something on a master page then it will automatically appear on regular pages based on that master. No dragging required.
There are other issues, including the fact that inflow items aren’t controlled by their master-page originals - only their container is managed in that way. But that shouldn’t relate to the problem you describe.
