Reduce space between lines of text?

I’m wondering if I can reduce the amount of space between 2 lines of text in an HTML item?

I’ve been following this thread on reducing the space between lines of text in an HTML item. The only way I know how to do it is make the lines a list and then make it undented. It looks good in Safari but the spaces are wide in Firefox. I don’t have access to a PC for Windows today. Is this just how it will be in Firefox or is there a better way to do this? I read DeltaDave’s “Space before / Space after Leading” but don’t understand what that means. I’m not a developer. One of my site pages showing the problem is http://www.carolinaallergyandasthma.com/ourlocationshour.html. Thank you!

I am not seeing a difference between these pages in Safari and FF. Safari left FF Right

What versions are you using?

When I said Space before and Space After I was suggesting adjusting these for spacing between paragraphs.

Leading adjustment for between lines of text in the same paragraph.

When I look at your examples, they look the same and are what I want people to see. It is exactly how they look on my Safari 5.1.5. On my Firefox 11.0 the spaces between the lines are larger. I cleared the cache and the spaces are still wider than in my Safari. It doesn’t look like this is a Freeway issue, if it’s peculiar to my Firefox, and I’m thankful for that. Thanks for checking this.

To adjust the lines all you need to do is adjust the leading (line-height)… so if you have 14px text just punch in 14px into the leading field {line-height) in the style and then to make sure there are no margins applied to that specific style, just make sure the space before and space after are set to 0px
then everything will be consistent in all browsers.

Please be aware this doesn’t mean that every browser will be spot on the same. The best you can hope for is that the actual differences between operating systems and browsers will be as small as possible.

Space before and space after will only adjust the space between paragraphs (hard returns). As Max said, to adjust spacing within a paragraph (or with soft returns), use leading. Use the key commands in Style > Leading > Increase or Decrease Leading to quickly and easily find the spacing you like and then name that style and make it permanent.

Or, just have a thousand style1 style2 style3 style4 … I hate that about Freeway.

I want to thank those who have helped me. This is a great resource and I’ve learned a lot by following the threads here. I realize how much I don’t know and it’s fun to have, as my wife puts it, “a new hobby”.

as my wife puts it, “a new hobby”.

And as my wife puts it ‘an unnatural obsession!’
