Remember that beer you said you owed me?

You know. You were in a real jam, client breathing down your neck, and some clever widget wasn’t doing its job.

You asked, I answered, and you said, “Next time you’re in [your locality], I’m buying!”

Well, I’m still here, and you’re still in [your locality], and I do so love a great beer, but I just pushed the button on a Kickstarter project to rebuild the ActionsForge.

So if you count interest since the late 90s, a beer or two will definitely get you in the serious sponsor money.

I am the one doing the asking now, and I know I have taught you all by example how to answer.

Make me proud, Freeway community.

I have had some easy decisions in my life, but this takes the cake.

Glad to contribute- mine went through smoothly and within 5 minutes I feel like I was finally able to give back (despite it being not much in the relation to the help and talent you have shared).

Good luck!!!

This is great news Walter!

Maybe I am one of the less endowed in the noodle department, but I have had more than a few frustrating encounters where searching for a action and getting lengthy results but nothing of the action I needed (but of course right then!). Try typing in photo and find photo magic or contrast or sharpen. There are others I have looked for that I don’t recall right now, and have gotten a slew of results but not what I was looking for. Then there are the actions that are named seemingly un-relative to the ‘action’…

I think I am fairly logical with searching, wish there was a bit more ease in that area.

Thanks!

Frank H.

Wow, Walt. Great approach on that “remember that beer” thing!

I hope you make it. I’ve thrown in, just to thank you for all you’ve done for Freeway, users, Actions, and me. I hope everyone else does, too.

OK. Sounds like an amazing task and something that all us Freeway Users will benefit from immensely and so I’m in.

I’ve signed up and paid my dues.

I do hope that others who will reap the rewards of the new site are willing to contribute too, ensuring that you have the resources you need to complete this for us.

Thanks Walter.

Regards
Alan…

I feel partly responsible for putting that bug in your ear so i’m down also, but I damn well better hear that SP ponies up. This benefits them as much as it does us.

Thanks to all who have donated so far. Please, even if you only gave the $10 minimum, choose a gift in the Kickstarter interface. Unless you choose a gift, it doesn’t get listed on the home page and the number of donors is under-counted. (On the other hand, it makes the other donors look more generous…)

I feel like I work in public radio: “Three lines open, volunteers are waiting to take your pledge, please call http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1513153421/actionsforge-next and help support your community…”.

Seems like your time allotment is a bit short. Maybe you should extend?

Should be fine when Softpress brings home the difference at the end!

Funny enough, that’s the first Q in their FAQ – and the answer is no. If we don’t reach the goal by the deadline, nobody gets charged and I have to start over. I’m reaching out to some corporate sponsors, which should move things along sharply, and I hope that all the Action authors put some skin in the game, too. I’d seriously like to incorporate their feedback, and under the conditions of the project, that costs at least a $100 pledge.

I remember when you helped me out of a jam with a “webhost” and gave me a great recommendation for a replacement (who I still use) probably…oh…8 years ago. Glad to participate, only wish I could give more. Thanks again.
