Q - At the moment I have all my files for a website stored in a public_html folder. Can I just re-upload my site - with the action applied to the required page?
Q - When do I activate the action before or after I upload the page?
Q - Once the page is uploaded how do I view it if there aren’t any links to it?
Q I’m trying to create a template page for use in mal’s e-commerce, I need to use this action and then copy the html code from the page viewed in safari and paste it into mals cart page.
If/when I can view the page do I need to copy all the code or certain parts of it?

Yes. The Action wants to know the public URL to the Resources folder on your server. The easiest way to find this is to go to the page you’ve designed for your shopping cart on your web site and right click on one of the images to open it in a new window. Make a note of the URL right down to the Resources bit.

Design the page. Upload to your server. Add the Action. Publish and use the HTML from the page to paste into your Mals admin area.
The upload is essentially just putting the images online so the HTML Freeway creates can load them into the page.

You won’t need to. The only thing you really need online is are the images, scripts and css that the page uses. The html page won’t be directly used.

All of it.
Where do I paste the code in mals-e commerce?
Good question. I don’t have access to a Pro Mals account but you should see an option to modify the look of the cart in your admin area. Paste the HTML from above into the form provided online.
If you get stuck let me know and I’ll see if I can find a pro account to look into this for you.
Thanks for the prompt reply, but not seeing the page uploaded getting the ‘Not Found’ message.
To recap - I’ve created an additional page in the existing website which I want to use as a template and applied the Remote Resources action to that page. I’ve ticked the activate box and in the Remote Resources url box I’ve put the current home page of the live website - then I’ve uploaded the whole website again to the public_html folder.
Hi Martin,
As this is a temporary address you’ll need to redo this when the site URL changes but for now enter the URL you gave me below in the Remote Resources Action; http://79.170.44.93/basketsof.com/
Once you’ve uploaded the site the cart page should be able to locate the images stored on your server and you’ll be free to paste the HTMl from the page into the Mals admin area to customise the cart look and feel.
Regards,
Tim.

This is what I did previously without any success.
Thanks for your help but unfortunately I’m completely lost and feel out of my depth here. I really need every little detail broken down stage by stage.
In mal’s e-commerce whenever I paste code it has no effect on the resulting preview page regardless of the box I paste code into, but not sure I’m pasting in the correct code in the first place.
Hi Martin,
I’ve written a guide on doing this from scratch which I’ve sent you. If you still have problems after following this please feel free to get back to me.
Regards,
Tim.

Hi Ronald,
Sure. I’ve PDF’d the file and put it online at http://d.pr/f/DqiV
The guide is a very simple step through of how you can use Freeway and the Remote Resources Action to create a custom cart layout for your Mals Premium store.

Tim.
Hi Ronald,
Are you working on that page at the moment? Unless I place the mouse over the main image so the MagicZoom appears all of the content disappears and leaves me looking at just the background image of the leaves.
Regards,
Tim.
It would appear that FireFox is a lot more forgiving of that disappearing page content than Safari.
So you want to style the text that appears in the Mals Cart Totals area? Using the Action give the table a class and then use this name in Edit > Styles to create a CSS style for the table. The text within the table will also pick up this new style.
Regards,
Tim.

Yes, but when I check it on my computers and iphone the page looks fine.
I’m working on this page in an other website, but just copied it to this one as this one is now online and the other not yet.
Did you also get my last emails I send a while ago?
I already did that in the real page. I only can not change the link in the Mals Totals area to review in cart. It stays blue and I need it WHITE Underlined.
Also some words in Dutch are not right. Hope you can change this in the action. I wrote this in my email.
Hope you can help me as I want to go online soon with my shop.
Hi There
I am the owner of www.basketsof.com. We have now switched from using MALS, so the guidance here is no longer current. I have been getting a few people from this forum adding stuff to my cart to try to test this - however you will not find it working, as said we are no longer using MALS. You probably need to look elsewhere
