# Remove unused styles

I’m revising a rather undisciplined Freeway site that is crammed with over a couple hundred styles. Is there an easy way to delete all unused styles?

The thing is, if they are temporary styles (not bold, permanent ones) they are already pruned automatically, all the time. If you see them in the Styles list, that’s because they are in use somewhere in your document.

If you command-click on a style in the list and delete it, you should see a dialog asking you to replace that style with another. If you have named your styles consistently, this should not take too long to fix up.

Make sure you have a backup or two! Because the changes will be site-wide when you delete and replace a style, things can get messed up in a hurry. Sometimes it’s hard to catch it if it’s a page you rarely look at. Just go slow, backup, and check all your pages for weirdness. You should be fine!
