Report on MooTools Accordion action with Freeway Exprss

Just a post to let the community know about my experience trying to create an accordion using the moo:accordion action from MooTools. (If you enter “Accordion” into the search field on the Knowledge Base, you’ll find a link to their page.)

I’m using Freeway Express 6.1.2. I want to create an accordion using text only. No graphics, no tables - pretty basic requirements for an accordion.

I tried using moo:accordion and couldn’t get it to work for me. I followed the “quick and simple” instructions from the MooTools web site as closely as possible. (The instructions are kind of minimal.) When I had formatted the HTML box and the text as instructed, I applied the action, published the site, and viewed it in a browser.

I had formatted the text to have 6 or 7 headers with bodies of text below each header. But the action only retained the very first header, and collapsed all of the text below that header. So I didn’t achieve my goal of having 6 or 7 headers with text below each header that would expand or collapse when you click on each header.

I don’t know if this action is incompatible with the version of Freeway that I’m using or if I didn’t format the text properly. It’s difficult to know because the instructions aren’t very detailed. But I gave it my best shot and couldn’t get it to work.

I thought this information might be helpful to other people who are trying to create an accordion with Freeway Express.

(I still haven’t figured out how to make an accordion in Freeway Express.)

I think the problem is that you cant have multiple headers in an Accordion container using Express.

At least not with the MooTools action.

If you wanted to do some hand coding you could do it with just CSS http://www.deltadesign.co/FW6Test/css-accordion-nojs.html

But it isn’t going to be WYSIWYG

So much easier in Pro!
