Responsive Text in Freeway 7

In which I break down two methods to responsive-ize your HTML text in Freeway 7: http://calebgrove.com/articles/responsive-text-in-freeway-7

It’s been awhile since I’ve published something on my blog. It feels nice to have fresh content!

Good to see this presented somewhere other than buried in a thread here!

One more thing - it happened when I did it myself or used your test file -
(Viewing in Safari7/Mac) -

On either page (Extended or Custom CSS) - after the 1st break point, the 1st line text shrinks as expected, but the 2nd line text gets larger at the first break, then smaller at the next. I’m not sure why, or if this is intentional but I would expect shrinking windows/screens/devices to go hand in hand with text.

I used the contextual menu for the subcontainer to examine Extended at each of the break points and 1100 = 30px and 768 = 20px , yet that’s not what I’m seeing.

On another note -

this tutorial assumes that you are using sane styling practices and are using Freeway’s style system instead of the inspector to style your text.

You might consider extrapolating with a link to explain how -or the differences. All good stuff though!

Good catch - the example file has been updated with a fixed version: http://calebgrove.com/download/Responsive-Text.freeway

An extensive article on leveraging Freeway’s custom text style system is on my growing to-write list, but this link should get you started (and has also been linked to from the article): Creating Custom CSS Styles in Freeway - Freeway - Softpress Talk

Glad you found it helpful, keep the feedback coming!
