rollover problems again

Driving me nuts. I’m still convinced there are bugs in my application.

I had all the rollovers working. I did NOTHING to change them, but them they slowly started to fall apart - not showing up, acting inconsistently…

sigh…

So, I started over with the video tutorial running right alongside me as I did it.

What am I doing wrong:

  1. Drew text box, rollover graphic and click graphic.
  2. Aligned them.
  3. Grouped them.
  4. Went back into each element and locked it.
  5. Clicked on group, licked on Actions>Rollover…but the individual items do not show up in the Actions box, only the group item.

??

It isn’t possible - simply NOT possible - for a single instance of an
installed program to have bugs that are not present in other
installed copies of precisely the same version of the same
application.

It IS possible for you to have disk problems or OS problems that can
cause all sorts of unpleasant behaviour, but not the sort of thing
you’ve described.

  1. Drew text box, rollover graphic and click graphic.

Do you mean you have three separate graphic boxes? These MUST all be
graphic boxes.

  1. Aligned them.

Fine…

  1. Grouped them.

Also fine…

  1. Went back into each element and locked it.

Why? Is this part of the tutorial? I don’t recall ever doing that for
any rollovers I make.

  1. Clicked on group, licked on Actions>Rollover…but the individual
items do not show up in the Actions box, only the group item.

What happens if you start again from scratch but miss out step 4?

  1. Yes, all graphics boxes.

  2. OK

  3. OK

  4. Yes, in tutorial and also in one-on-one class I took with Freeway.

  5. Nothing different if I leave out step #4.

Also, the video tutorial does not show “layer” or “combine with children” as clickable options yet they are showing on on my Inspector. Some of the boxes had them clicked; some not, but I did not click them. I have tried it both way.

Biggest issue right now is that I cannot even get the individual rollover items to show in the action box, just the grouped item.

Oh, I think you’re doing the same thing I did when I was first
learning rollovers.

The graphics need to be non-layer items. If you uncheck the Layer box,
you should get “combine graphics” instead of “combine with children”.
Combine graphics should be checked for all of them.

I’m having exactly the same problem that I too need a quick fix for.

Hope someone out there can enlighten us.

I would rather not assume I understand precisely what you’re trying
to do and what behaviour you’re getting. Could you explain the
problem carefully, perhaps describing your layout a little as well?
If you have an example page online somewhere that would probably make
a big difference too.
