Rollovers with HTML Text

Is it possible to do basic rollovers with HTML text, or does it always need to be an image?

Say I have a nav bar at the top of my page that will have a basic color change rollover in the text or box it’s in. Does this have to be a graphic?

Thanks…

Yes, you can do rollovers with HTML text. If you want a nav bar with text and background changing colour, try the CSS menus action.

Also, if you want to have a rollover on a bit of plain text influence
another element, say, using Target Show/Hide Layer or another of the
Target Actions, then there is a text form of the Rollover action.
Click inside your run of text, and then choose Insert/Text Rollover
from the main menu. Click on the resulting Action-item in the flow of
text, and use the Actions palette to change the text that you want to
appear, as well as configure which target chain and number you want
to affect.

I think I tried using the Rollover action from the Item menu but it’s not there.

I know there are different actions for different elements, but it would probably be easier if Action were found in one place and then categorized within that one place.

Right now Actions is in almost every menu.

You won’t find the Text Rollover action in the Item menu because this action cannot be applied to existing text: you need to insert an action item (see Walter’s explanation).

If you want rollovers in a nav bar, the best solution is probably the CSS menus action. Create an HTML item containing a list with the menu items, apply the CSS menus action to the item and set colours for the different states of link text and background. You may even use images for the backgrounds.

Thanks, folks. I’ll keep those ideas in mind.
