Rounded Border Boxes

I am new to Freeway, but am getting to grips with building my own site. I want to have a thin border around some HTML text with the border corners rounded.

How do I do this please

You need to create the graphic file (rounded edge box) in Photoshop or similar program as a 72 dpi RGB image to your size 100x100 pixels etc

Remembering to specifty a transparent background if you are to have images behind it! Otherwise you will get white corners where the rounded edges are!

Save for the web, select gif or PNG if transparency is required!

Goto freeway doc, draw graphic, get image (apple E) if using Mac, fit to size (apple, shift,D) also mac!

place html over the top.

Also to help it moving all over the page, try to place items like this in a table, preferrably assigned to a master page, then any subsequent changes are also made to that associated page!

Done!

Try the HTML text box decoration action - you can place rounded gif corners to a HTML box (I’m not sure which version is current)

Could could also use styles to apply a background image style to the whole HTML box, and go further to make it flexible.

Or use a 3 cell table the top and bottom having your rounded corners in as a style, or pasted gif box

Or try Freeway 5! This is out of the box stuff.

  1. Draw an HTML item
  2. Go to the Inspectors Appearance Settings tab/pane
  3. Open Graphics Effects
  4. Select Border
  5. You will then see a Corner option in which you can specify the radius of the corners

That’s it!

This example was crated with one HTML box with three HTML boxes inserted. The middle, and surrounding box has the height deleted. So it can stretch with the text. the top and box have a graphic inserted, and the heights deleted, the graphic stops them collapsing.

Try re-sizing the text

Exactly - much better, with no FW4 fiddling around.

The PS method worked OK for me, but Freeway 5 looks the way to go!

I am looking for a host for my very simple site. Anyone recommend a host that is Mac/Freeway friendly with ecommerce for less than £100 a year?

Brian,

If you want a dedicated shopping cart scripts (OScommerce, Zen Cart, Cube Cart, Agora) that can handle large ecommerce sites, together with a shared secure server. Then yes we have scripts in the control panel to “one click” install. You can check out the scripts available by test driving a control panel here:
http://www.printlineadvertising.co.uk/hosting/freeway-hosting.html

These are very powerful scripts that can handle the whole site for you if you want it, from client login to purchase (Or you create a Freeway site front end, to link into the shopping site scripts behind it).

But you don’t have to go down that route, as one of our basic accounts can create a Freeway built shopping site (with the Freeway Shop actions or adding code), with the shopping cart being handled off site by PayPal, NoChex, Mals ecommerce etc,

Any questions please contact me off forum.

David

But you can run a store created in Freeway
