I see the new ‘Pickaxe’ book for Ruby 2.0 is out on PragProg. 2.0 seems like a minor update so I’m wondering if it’s necessary to grab the new book. I’d rather not spend the $ if it’s not a crucial update. Opinions?
If you bought the e-book version of Programming Ruby 1.9, you should get a free upgrade. Dave Thomas tweeted about it earlier today. I don’t qualify, because I got the dead tree edition only.

I only bought the physical 1.9 book too. But looking at my account I see a coupon for 100% off the beta ebook but the discount is not showing up on the checkout page. I guess I don’t get to use it.

Here’s a (free for this week only) screencast covering the differences in Ruby 2.0 from 1.9.
