Safari's zoom

When designing your sites and pages, do any of you take into account how Safari only resizes text when you use its zoom (cmnd+)? It drives me nuts. The entire page can fall apart and become unreadable. I wish it zoomed like Firefox or Opera. I don’t have or use IE. How does its zoom work? Does it zoom like Safari or like Firefox? Since about 75 percent of the people who visit our site use IE, I guess it would be a good thing to know.

I’m just curious how you handle this kind of thing. I use box mode now so things resize better and don’t run over each other.

I’ve also noticed that web sites are being designed with smaller font sizes these days and they override the font size settings I have set in my browser. I don’t think it’s a good thing. We’re not all 18 with perfect vision. I’m far from it. I will (and have) bail on a site because it’s too difficult to read.

You can change the setting on the text zoom in Safari. Go to the View menu and uncheck “zoom text only.”
