"Save As" Icon?

Here’s a part of Freeway that I never understood:

This is in the “Save As” dialog. Any idea what this is about? The documentation says nothing about it.

maybe template?

Naw, because I’ve tried it and it doesn’t output a .fwtb file, just a plain .freeway file. From what I can see, the option does absolutely nothing, which is what confuses me.

It’s a way to save as a stationery file, which is a file with all its file informations stripped out (such as the upload details).

Ah, that makes sense. I’m assuming the stationary option is the one on the right?

Yes these are the document and stationary options for the saved file. The stationary option does the same as selecting the file in the Finder, getting info on it and selecting the ‘stationary pad’ checkbox. From here when you open the file in the Finder a duplicate will be created and opened rather than the original. It is essentially the same functionality as Freeway’s own templates but the feature is built into the OS rather than the app.

Personally I’d encourage Softpress to drop the option.

Tim.

Thanks Tim,

I think there have been issues with the Finder Stationery Pad files not working in the same way as the ones generated in Freeway in the past, which is why the feature is still there. I do think that the UI could be a lot clearer though.
