Screen Captures of Problems

Hello everyone,

I am having upload problems, and desperately need guidance on what is wrong and how to fix it.

When I am working on a page in Freeway it looks like this:

Photobucket

Then when I preview it in a browser it looks like this:

Photobucket

But then, when I actually upload the page – it looks like this:

Photobucket

The tagline in the footer doesn’t appear at all, and the mission statement in the header seems to show a uber-condensed left bar.

Does anyone have any ideas as to why this has started happening? It does seem to have started out of the blue.

Thank you all in advance for your help!!

This could be as simple as a stale cache somewhere; either in your browser or the server. Try adding ?foo=bar to the end of the URL in your browser’s location field and press Enter. If that clears it up then you don’t have to worry. The situation will resolve as soon as all the caches in the chain expire. And anyone who is visiting you for the first time in a while will always see the latest in any case. You have this problem because you’re visiting it often!

By the way, thanks for the excellent use of screenshots to make your point. Well done!

waltd,

Thank you for the rapid reply!

It did take care of the issue with the mission statement at the top, but I am still missing the third line of my footer – both in the preview and upload.

Any ideas as to why that isn’t showing up?

Thanks again!

Not sure. If you look at the source code, is the complete content
being published into the HTML?

Sadly, I am new to all of this and wouldn’t know what to look for in source code – or where to look at source code for that matter.

I made the new line a separate text box, and replaced everything. Now it all looks great.

Thank you Walter!!

Peace,
Jason

The easiest way to do this is to use Preview in Browser, then from the
browser find the View Source menu option (View / View Source… in
Safari). Once there, you would use the text search (Apple-F) to search
for a word that you know exists in the design yet is missing from the
display. You don’t need to know how to read HTML to find a needle in a
haystack!

Glad you found a way around the problem, but if you get it again,
that’s the first thing I would look into. If the text is being
published but you can’t see it on the screen, then the container is
probably set to overflow:hidden and the text has overrun its (fixed)
container size.
