On the softpress scriptaculous actions page the first ‘slide me down’ example pushes the items below it down. As I understand it, this action can only be applied to a layer, so how can the layer push the items down - mine just go over the top.
You need to draw an HTML item (quite large, it will contain your combo
items, it can be a layer or a table based item), double click in it
and go to the Insert>HTML Item menu option. You then need to select
the item you just inserted and set it’s Float to Left in the Inspector.
Change the items width to the full width of the parent item and copy
it. Double click in the parent and paste as many items that you want
to have (two for each level, one for triggering and one for
appearing). Once you have added the text into the items you will then
need to make their heights undefined, you can do this by deleting the
height value from the inspector for each of the items.
The items will then be in-flow so they are on the same layer and will
move each other around when increased decreased.
I hope this helps.

If you need more items then Joe kindly explained it to me:

The only trouble I am running into is this - if I have a longer section full of them, how do I get the footer and therefore the length of the page to grow. Currently I have to set the actual height of the page to work with the long table in order to see it and edit it - but then when I publish the page it actually 2000px in height - how can I get that to grow/shrink?

I would think the best way is to put the footer inside the same container after all the other inline boxes, it should get pushed down and pulled back up the page as the others shrink and grow
I just tried this out and I don’t seem to be getting the correct results? I’m placing 3 html text blocks within the parent box as inline text items… then adding the boxes that are the triggers the same way, on top of (in front) of the text blocks. How do I make the three buttons close up together, before triggering the text blocks. I know the text blocks need to be set as hidden initially… but I’m getting the “space” between the buttons that the text takes up, instead of the 3 buttons closed up, before activating. Hmmm…
Try making the inside boxes as inlines, not as children. Click inside
the parent box so you see a flashing text cursor, then Insert > HTML
Item to add a box. You can also use copy/paste, as long as you have a
flashing I beam text cursor.

I did finally get it to work… Can you use graphics though for the buttons? I seem to be able to get html buttons to work, but not graphics? Also, I noticed that if the parent box is sized to the same width as the child html blocks… I can’t set the child html boxes to “none” height?
You can apply the Action to any layer or in-flow item and these can be
HTML or graphic items. I’m not sure what’s happening with the
undefined height, you should always be able to set this. Could you try
setting the width of the inflow items as 100% if you want them to be
as wide as the parent.

I’m still experimenting with all the new stuff… Trying to get a handle on everything before release day! I think I may have had the Fill-master applied to the button, and the Combo FX said: can’t apply both actions? I’ll check the width thing again… it seems to do this intermittently… Thanks!
Someone contacted me and asked if I could make a file with an example of the Blind Up and Down effect that BigG originally asked about. I have placed the page that I created on the web (those that saw us at Macworld will recognize it).
There’s a link to the Freeway file at the bottom of the grey text area on the left of the page.

Jabberwocky, a splendid poem by Lewis Carroll. A girl and I had an
amusing journey to Ireland many years ago; we both learned the poem
by heart on the ferry before we got to Dublin and found the nearest
pub.
