Hello David,
The page is the one with the carousel style you saw another day. I’ve reduced the size of most of the images, converted most png to gif, etc but it maybe stil big…
The page has a slideshow on the first panel already but the new one will be on the third panel (services). The pictures are already there, but client want the feature to click to see them bigger. That’s why I thought of these two options.
I don’t believe it will matter either way. Both of these Actions
produce a “lazy-loading” overlay effect. The large image file isn’t
loaded until it’s requested by the user clicking on the thumbnail.
That’s the point of these sorts of effects. The main page loads
quickly, because those thumbnails are eentsy.

The gallery will include about 6 images at most.
The amount of images is not crucial - rather the size of them.
6 images should be fine especially if they are pruned in size.
But post a link to your page so that we can see how big it is already

thanks a lot for the advice! I tried to reduce the jpg images I’m using in the slideshow, but have no idea why they have different sizes if they have the same resolution and pixels.
best,

You can definitely still reduce file sizes
panels2.png is 172K whereas background8.jpg (because it is a jpeg) is only 92K and has greater dimensions.
Make panels2 a jpeg as well.
And the slideshow pics could be reduced as well.
The page is over 2Mb just now - I am sure that you could shave off 0.5Mb
Thank You! I’ve been working hard on this design for the last couple of weeks…
There are many ways to make a background, header or a footer to extend across the entire page and there’s a lot of people over here much more expert than me in Freeway and web design. I’ve been designer for print many many years but to tell you the truth, just started as web designer last October 2010. Freeway made it possible!
In order to get, either the header, the footer or an entire background across the entire page like the one I did, you have to create it first in Photoshop the way you want it too look. If you also want to add a particular background that extends across the entire browser you need to created it together and the high of the the background in Photoshop need to match the high of the page. It doesn’t need to be really wide. Let’s suppose you create a page 960 px high. Then you create a file 266 px wide X 960 px high and save it with 72 dpi as RGB JPG. for example.
In Freeway go to Inspector > page appearance settings > image and then choose the image you created to import it. Select Horizontal (tile) and Vertical (top). Go to General page setting in Inspector and select Align (center).Basically, that’s it. When you preview you’ll see the same effect.
I hope it helps,
Good luck!

Marcus,
Great looking design.
Wondering…how do get the header across the entire width of the page…(nebie question).

There will only be a direct relationship between pixels and file size
in basic un-optimised formats. In most practical formats file size is
related to the complexity of the image. A jpg of a large area of a
single colour will have a small file size.
