I just tried both – both worked exactly as expected.

Walter, I wanted to insert it in a Table cell. It didn’t work on that. So I sketched an instance of it on the page, copied, then pasted inside the table cell. I then put a space before and after the text to format it.
It would be best if I could insert it directly in the table cell, as you say is possible, and then pick up text styling without having to put a space before and after, but I wasn’t able to do that.
I’ll give it another go tomorrow when I get into the office. But for now, you can see my “copy/paste” version here (in the Relays section):

Just tried this too
While I have no problem inserting the action in a run of text I cannot get an external page link to popup. Internal ones are fine as are images.

The external page has to be a link to a page, not a folder. Add index.html to the end of the URL and see if it loads then.

It’s working now. I screwed up. I was using the “INSERT” command of the “ITEM” menu yesterday!
There are so many places to add an Action in Freeway, it screws with one’s mind! ![]()
I’m also pleased to see that not only can I insert it in a table cell, but to format the text I merely need to click in the cell, Select All, then apply my Style – no leading or trailing space required anymore. Curious. Is this something unique to your Action, or has Freeway changed in this regard? Because like I said, for years I’ve had to place a leading and trailing space around Action items in order to get the text links to be style properly. It’s nice I don’t need to do that with your Action.
Thanks again, Walter!

I wish I could take credit for this, but as far as I know, it’s nothing special I have done. Try adding a Link to File instance in another cell and see if it gets the same royal treatment.

Thanks for clarifying that. Can you explain why it doesn’t work unless you target a specific page.

I use a fairly naive regular expression to decide what to do with a given link. I would have to do some more head-scratching to permit a site link (which can, albeit incorrectly, end in .com|org|net|whatever rather than /) as another trigger for the iframe.

It is not really necessary now that I am aware of the issue - might be worth mentioning in the action blurb though.

Walter, I’ve got another ScriptyLightBox2 question for you.
Today, I was given the task of putting up popup-overlay content on a page in our site. The content should appear when the page opens, each and every time the page opens or is reloaded. I wanted to do that with ScriptyLightBox2, but doesn’t have that feature (nor will it allow me to apply the action to the page itself). So I had to turn to the aid of “Timed Spawn New Window.” It offers a “Delay in seconds” field that, when set to zero, will immediately show the popover content when the page loads.
You can see what I am talking about here:
The problem is that I already have a ScriptyLightBox2 action applied to the page, inside my CSS Menus navigation bar, and there appears to be a conflict between the code of the two actions, which only surfaces in IE9 for Windows7. More specifically, after you load the page, the popover appears, then you click the close box, and then you click on the button just to the left of the “ENGLISH” button. That is supposed to display the content in a popover, hoving above the existing page. It works fine in all Mac browsers and even in IE8 on WinXP. But in IE9 on Windows7, the content of that popup is broken out into a brand new page. I want the content to be displayed in a popover hoving over the existing page. It should not dump the content into a new page.
I would appreciate your thoughts on how this could be solved.
Many thanks,

Found the problem. Paul Dunning’s action is adding this to the page code:
I used TextWrangler to delete it, and now IE9 is working fine. I’ve written to Paul offlist to see about having his Timed Spawn New Window action updated.

To follow-up on my previous post…
Paul Dunning updated his Spawn New Window action suite to resolve the old Prototype version issue with IE9. You can download the suite for free here:
http://www.actionsworld.com/Actions/SpawnNewWindow/index.php
And again, since ScriptyLightBox2 lacks a “timed” function, you will need to use Paul’s “Timed SNW” action (vers. 4.3 as of this writing) if you want to generate popover content immediately after a page loads.

After a long hiatus, I’m back with another question.
I’m trying to post long, thin samples using ScriptyLightBox2 on my site. (Because I use it everywhere else on the site.)
Trouble is, since the action shrinks the entire sample to fit the window, the text in the sample is too small to read.
Is it possible to force the window’s width & height and have a scroll bar appear for navigating up and down within the box.
Thanks,
Joseph

ScriptyLightBox3 is out as of yesterday:
http://actionsforge.com/actions/view/288-scriptylightbox3
Unfortunately, the code is totally different from ScriptyLightBox2, and because of that, I can no longer hack the code to fix the graphic resizing problem. It’s frustrating.
To read more about what I mean, search for “hack” on this web page and you will find my earlier post on that subject. (Dang! I really wish I could direct link to individual posts on FreewayTalk!)
More to the point, I need to beg for either one of following two things:
Hand-holding on how to hack the code of ScriptyLightBox3 to achieve what I was able to do by hacking ScriptyLightBox2.
Give us the power to change the resize trigger within the Actions palette so that no code hacks are necessary.
I want (2) the most because right now I am forced to hack every new version of ScriptyLightBox2 that comes out. I really dislike that. So it’s better to empower us with options in the Actions palette.
Again, search this page for “hack” to find my earlier post on what I am talking about.
Thank you,

Actually, the only changes to the Action are to externalize all of the JavaScript and CSS code and to make the dimension setting and getting more forward-thinking. The part that you have lovingly adjusted in the past is here:
http://cdn.freewaypro.com/scripty_lightbox_3/0.1.2/scripty_lightbox_3.js
I’m staring at this, trying to see where I could stash your variable that the script could read it. I suppose it could go in the data-attributes, like I’m doing currently with the radius and background color.
If you want to hack the script, you could create your own version of the JavaScript, put it on your server, and then adjust the paths in the Action that refer to my CDN server to point to yours instead. I’ll keep thinking about how to make this adjustable in the interface, though.

Hi Walter,
Having adjustable settings in the Action’s palette interface is of course better than hacking the code, mainly because it would free me from having to hack each and every new version of SL3 that comes out.
Of course, there is still a downside for putting that *.js file on my server. I would need to check every now and then if there is a new version, and if there is, I would then need to copy that file to my server.
But the point I was making earlier in this thread remains. The existing script is too sensitive when it comes to browser window width and object resizing. I don’t want objects resized until the very edges of the browser window almost run right up against the object itself. That’s precisely what my “hack” does to the SL2 code.
Thanks,
James W.

Adjust away. (version 0.2 just released) Be careful up near the higher end of this scale, because the close button can end up above the frame, and you can barely click it to close the window.

After a looong hiatus, I am back again. Now working with Freeway Pro 7.1.4 and using ScriptyLightbox3 to show JPEGs and MP4s in a modal window.
Problem is, the videos won’t play. I’m pretty much stumped. They won’t play in Freeway’s preview panel and the only browser they’ll preview in is a legacy version of Google Chrome (71.0.3578.98).
Thanks in advance for any help and insight you can provide,

A 7-year hiatus is indeed a long one.
Thankfully, this site still exists, as does Freeway and many of us who still love it.
Since you are focused on videos, may I ask why not just put them on your webpage line, rather than use ScriptyLightbox?
Here’s an example page from my Freeway-built website that shows inline videos hosted on YouTube (scroll down on that page to see them):
