SEO Flash Sites + Freeway

I am having some issues with SEO on my Flash-based websites. None of them are showing up in google when searched for.

At the moment, my method is to insert the SWF file into Freeway and publish the page like a normal freeway site. I like this method as it allows me to easily add freeway actions, meta tags, analytics etc. I also use this method as it generates valid code, where Flash sometimes doesn’t.

However, none of my sites are showing up. I realise that Google can’t index text in Flash sites, but usually most of my HTML sites are pretty high in the rankings, even when I have only used graphic text in freeway. So, why is Google indexing my graphic text sites (when I say indexing - i mean that it is reading the meta tags), but not my Flash sites which are built in the same way?

As an example, please see the following website that I designed months ago but which will not appear in search engines at all. Previously it was contained in an HTML page published directly from flash, but I switched it over to my Freeway method a few weeks ago in the hope of increasing search engine performance.

All help is very much appreciated, as are any any general website comments and constructive criticism.

Cheers, Zac

Hi Zac

As you’ve probably found, if your a mutli-national, with a very popular product with lots of real world advertising then you can probably get away with an all flash site. If not your singing in the dark.

The wise bods are using flash alongside a traditional HTML page. The design skill is to get these working together nicely on the same page. One other option is to run other sites or pages that can link back into this site. Maybe create a blog? Also given some of the effects you can create with the FW5 scriptaculous actions, you can produce some very nice effects.
