Shopping Basket – Urgent!

Can you build a Shopping Basket for me?
The basket should should collect the data for: items required (10), quantities, postage and packing (3 options) and calculate the price. When the buy hits the BUY NOW button the data is transferred to a fulfilment house for order processing, etc.

Can you help? How much will you charge?

Have you looked at the Freeway Shop stuff that comes for free with Freeway? You might be able to tackle this yourself.

Freeway Shop is a definite option along with Tim Plumb’s Action found here: http://www.freewayactions.com/product.php?id=016

You might also try these online services:

I have not used either but they look pretty good - especially Shopify.
Good luck.

Have you used Mal’s ecommerce in the way I want to?

Reading the info it seems that the you have to have the info forwarding to one of Mal’s servers.

I have to forward the info, as described above, to my clients fulfilment house sever.

I love love to do this myself but this is too important to play around with! But if you know a way…

Graham,

You would probably be better off going with a service like Shopify as I believe they will handle all the options you need. Or, outsource to another FW user.

Check out Roman Cart at http://www.romancart.com

Just another option.

Hi - I think Shopify is extremely difficult to tailor correctly. I would suggest Flying Cart or for small projects ( less 100 pieces) BigCartel or even Interspire for bigger stuff.

Will the fulfillment house be gathering the money on their end? How do you accept payment? Those are the major questions to ask here. Gathering up a form and mailing it somewhere is really really easy[1]. Taking money for goods without being robbed is not.

The fulfillment house will be taking the money, contact details and order fulfilment.

They have asked for data as below…
:

  1. POST data to the following url
    https://www.*.co.uk/secure//index_bi.php

  2. Cart info- ?item=CHESSISSUE05&quantity=1&item=CHESSISSUE11&quantity=1

  3. Total price
    &TotalPrice=27.96

If you need us to use Postage costs as a separate field then please POST
that as PPPrice

I used to do it that way with Roman Cart (not that I’m pushing them) when I only had an in-house CC processing machine before I got an online merchant account. What a hassle that was. Customers don’t like waiting for their transactions to go through and I didn’t like doing all the work involved with it either. Much easier to have an online merchant that handles the money and your customer handle the shipments, or whatever they’re selling. They will get a full report of everything that happens.

But you’ve got to do what your client wants to do. Maybe they have the means of processing automatically from a return form?

problem i tought with prestashop is, ( but that was my idea and my idea only!!) that all the shop’s seem to look alike in layout.
Freeway is about making something beautifull.
when working with mals or roman, you can still have your own design and let the cart be a part of your site. not the other way around ( still… only my opinion) Also Mals or Roman are not so difficault to implement. A few small things are missing, still, but that are not the things, you need, as far as i read your message.

as far as carts…there is also quickcart. from http://opensolution.org.
they offer a cart that you could adapt more.
you can ‘zencart’ or ‘magento’ !

Good luck ( i would stick to Mals or Roman!)
