Site crashes in Safari

Can anyone tell me why this site crashes in Safari? It’s OK in Firefox
and Camino. (Not my site, BTW.)

Thanks,

Roger

Seems okay to me (Safari 2).

It uses Flash, and resized my window without asking me first. At
least it shrank it instead of zooming to fill my screen. Still, I
think it’s rude.

;o)

  • goes back to reset Safari to my preferred size and position *

Mine is 3.0.4 under 10.5.1 although the person who asked me to check it
is using 10.4.

I wouldn’t disagree!

Interestingly it re-sizes the window in Firefox but not in Camino.

Safari was upgraded across both 10.4 and 10.5 (and even poor creaky
Windows) to 3.0.4 in the last round of automatic updates.

3.0.4 and X.4.11 here

Minimised the window which then disappeared - but didn’t crash Safari

Oddly I stumbled across this the other day. Weirdest operating system bug in a long time. I’m on Safari 3.0.4 on 10.5.1, and the behaviour I see is that the window disappears but stays in the window list.

Attempting to minimize the window by hitting cmd-M or selecting Window->Minimize from the menus causes the Dock to hang. This also breaks Exposé, Spaces, and the cmd-tab application switcher.

I submitted it upstream to Apple on Sunday and pointed a bunch of people at it, because it’s weird. Roger, who asked you to test, just out of interest? Wonder if it found its way to you through the grapevine with me as the origin :o)

Same here, too, Finlay

The first time I tried to open the site I got the same ‘no window’
syndrome and tried again, then moved on. It was only later that I
discovered my home page wouldn’t launch, except by opening a new
window first. ONly on going to quit (as a hopeful cure) did I find the
two earlier windows listed. Very odd.

However, on quitting everything seemed OK, although I have run
‘Cocktail’ since to clean out the caches (something that was due
anyway).

Another Leopard quirk I’ve noted is that my iMac Sleeps/Awakes much
more quickly than Tiger, at first, but slows down dramatically if you
don’t sweep the cashes regularly - so if you don’t keep your machine
on at night I recommend Cocktail or similar is a must (or you could
always set your clock to an antipodean time, I suppose)!! :-D.

Oh, and as a workaround if you do manage to cause your Dock to hang:

Open a Terminal (click on the Desktop and navigate to Applications → Utilities) and execute “killall Dock”.

No, it was a friend who’s involved with the pressure group. I’m not
sure who produced the site for them.
