The very useful Snap to Points function does not seem to work in this context: I want the center of an existing circle to be aligned with the end of a line.
If I draw the line first, I can easily draw a circle centered on the end of the line, by enabling “snap to points” then drawing my circle using Shift-Option.
Likewise, if I draw first my circle, I can start drawing a line from the center of this circle.
But if I move an existing circle, I can make it tangent to the line, or have one of its “left” or “right” points (but not its top or bottom points ) snap the ends of a horizontal line, but no way to snap the center of the circle to the end of the line.

Max, thanks for your smart suggestion, it works fine.
Nevertheless I had simplified my problem to describe what I think is a “missing feature” in Intaglio.
In fact, the line I want to snap my circle to is not horizontal, it is inclined. An in this case your trick doesn’t work.
I’m afraid Intaglio definitely lacks the ability to snap the center of a circle to any object or particular point of an object.
Draw the circle and a vertical line and align the centres.
The simplest way of aligning the objects is to drag the circle over the line until the red alignment guide appears. The circle then ‘snaps’ into position.
Another workaround is to draw a temporary line starting at the center of the circle (using the snap to point feature to get the exact center). Next move the temp line so the end that was over the center of the circle is aligned with the end of your reference line (using the smart guides). Now select the circle and choose the menu Edit > Repeat Translate. This will move the circle the same amount you just moved the line. You can now delete the temp line.
