sNews

Has anyone had experience working with sNews in Freeway. I remember Ernie suggesting an interest some time ago.
sNews looks to be the full bottle for what I would like to achieve; you can integrate it into your site and have more control than cutenews offers (adjusting post dates, in particular).
I am talking to the sNews forum but wonder whether anyone within the freeway community has it working?
Cheers, Rob

Rob:

I’m not sure but Fred, my design partner at Dzyn Lab, is super-heavy
into SNews and is quite active on their forums. You might want to
email him directly… fred at dzynlab dot com about whether or not he
thinks SNews and FW would work together like EE…

Yes, it’s very possible but it requires a degree of code work and patience. Because of the lack of editing capabilities FW doesn’t make this sort of thing an intuitive process, even for such a simple CMS like sNews. If you’re not put off by this then you’re good to go. And yes, Ernie’s <www.thebigerns.com> uses sNews.

Heh – http://www.thebigerns.com/freeway/ is actually where I’m using
sNews. I also used sNews at http://www.kmsteele.com/ If you hang
around the sNews forums you’ll realize the people who are involved
with it have extensive experience with PHP coding. Any troubleshooting
will require that you learn some “basics” of PHP and MySQL. By
comparison, Freeway integration is not so bad, but means you have work
more indirectly in Freeway than most people are used to.

sNews is a good way to get some practical PHP and MySQL experience,
and the integration techniques will help you with many other types of
“bolt on” scenarios with Freeway. Definitely for the
do-it-yourself-er and not for the plug-and-play crowd.
