Some hidden gems Freeway 5 that are bloody marvellous :o)

Hi David

Yes you are right you could always do this as an inline div in 4 but what I am describing is not an inline div.
With the inline method you need to pad the inline html box to move it around the parent or use things like range left or range right, but this new method allows you to position the inner box exactly were you want it and the height of the parent will take its cue from the bottom of the non layered inner div. The other advantage is the inner box has the minimum height you set when you created the inner box but will grow when the text either expands in size or in actual characters. (This is a real boon when used with a content management systems)

If you try to do this new method in the old 4 the result will be the parent height will reduce to 0px tall
So now you have the best of both worlds an inline which you can make text flow around or as this new method which allows for different possibilities that would be hard to reproduce as an inline.
Coupled with this the ability to quickly move a layered child outside the boundaries of the parent make this a real step forward in choice.

Kind regards
max

Forgot to mention in the above list of little gems was one of the most needed improvements… the “save archive”.

For people who don’t know what this may be, it’s similar to quarks collect for output. It collects all the media and the freeway doc and places in a folder

There is some documentation on the Softpress site which you may wish to download. It’s text only, and is provided to help you explore the new features.
