anyone else have this issue?
I applied some sound effects to using the sound fx action.
When rolling over, it seems to always be delayed. The sounds themselves are small files, and start instantly.
any ideas? you can hear them when rolling over an arrow here, www.wadesettlesounddesign.com
I just went to your site. The sounds are delayed the first time I go
to an item with a sound rollover, however, the 2nd and subsequent
times I visit the same item, the sound plays immediately. Quitting
and relaunching Safari, the sound rollovers play immediately,
therefore the sound must still be in the memory cache of Safari. I
haven’t worked with the Sound FX action, so don’t know what options
are available with it. It appears that the sound is not downloaded to
the browser/visitor’s computer until the rollover for that particular
item is accessed the first time. Is there some kind of mechanism or
option to get the sounds to download when that page is displayed,
instead of waiting until the rollover is accessed?

joe,
yeah, that’s what i’ve experienced in firefox too.
It’s pretty much just a setting for rollover of click. Not much else to the action.
thanks for checking though.
Hi,
the sound delay is inevitable and unavoidable because of the way browsers handle sound. The files are downloaded as they are accessed, they are generally not cached and so can;t be pre-loaded.
If you need the sound to play instantly, you need to consider using Flash for your buttons.
