A few days ago I noticed a strange icon on my Freeway site (www.wadiocese.com - it’s in Cyrillic). It’s a blue cube with question marks, similar to a Lego block. In the last few days two visitors to the site have e-mailed me that their computers were infected by our site. I hve no experience whatsoever in regards to these manners. I put my Freeway files through McAfee Antivirus and uploaded them
Where does the virus “reside”: on my computer or on the server? What can be the reson for the strange cube icon showing up? It seems to show up randomly, on the green backround.
I’ve noticed this too on my site. I started seeing it after the recent server transition at Have Host (I don’t know who your host is though). I’ve not had anyone say anything about a virus however. I’m unsure if it’s a server, browser or other type of glitch but I would be interested in knowing the cause myself.

I in fact host Peter’s site too. I am looking into this but it isn’t always there and I it’s proving very difficult to pin-down so that my techs can figure out exactly WHAT it is…

I notice that HH have eradicated this problem but the BBC video pop-up windows have the same little blu lego brick. How wide spread is this?
The blue lego brick probably indicates unknown plugin content. It just
happens that there was a javascript insertion virus causing this to
happen on your site, where you won’t have been expecting plugin
content at all.
The BBC video pop-up may very well show this if you do not have one of
their two media players installed (RealPlayer or Windows Media Player)
and the correct one set in the settings. On OS X I find RealPlayer to
be more reliable, but finally the WMV Player from Flip4Mac (and
recommended by Microsoft) is getting better all the time.
