Surprise, surprise the hug is not Flash but Target Show/Hide

Sorry I started a new thread but things have changed, I believe what slows IE is not Flash (so much) but Target Show/Hide.

Please test in IE:

www.olympiawindows.com/noflash

and

www.olympiawindows.com/notargethide

Now I have 2 questions:

1- is it only under Parallels (where I test)

2-what are the options to Target Show/Hide

Thanks for any help,
Emilio

Nobody even curios?

Emilio,

I just tried the various links. Very interesting results. The noflash page cause cpu to rhythmically cycle between 75% and 100% CPU. The notargethide cause cpu to cycle between 5% and 100% in a cyclical, but inconsistent manner.

The scriptaculous page was really interesting to watch. It cycles from 4%-100% gradually reducing to an almost steady 50% then increasing to 4%-100%, then back to 50%. I’d love to post a screen shot of it, but I’m not having any luck with the print screen function in Parallels.

Hi Emilio,

To get a better comparison you should also remove the Sequence Timer
Action, and the Ticker Tape Action too.

Joe,

Please also take a look at:

I got rid of Flash, mainly because I found it distracting.

I would like to know if is there another way to do the “Target Show/Hide” that won’t be so cpu consuming?

Any help greatly appreciated.

Not without implementing it all yourself, and even then there’s no
guarantee that it will require less power. I think Windows just seems
to use up a lot of cycles, to do the same things that don’t on Mac OS.

Thanks for your response.

Even in Mac Safari or Firefox, it shoots up from 0.5% to 42%.

Thanks again,
Emilio
