SVG export fails

Hi there,

I try to save simple drawings as SVG.
But it always fails.

I always get an error message stating that :
“Can’t complete this command.
This file does not exist.”

What am I doing wrong ?

(Intaglio version 3.1.2.)

Can´t recreate this. Can you provide a step-by-step workflow?

Quit simple :

Open Intaglio,
Draw a shape,
Save as SVG

And I get the error message…

P.S. : I just downloaded the last version and its the same.

Oooops !

I got the solution. It is folder name dependent !
It seems that the path cannot contain a folder name containing “space” character.
In my case, the path was like:
/Users/dd/Documents/A folder name with white characters/

It seems that Intaglio does not like it.

Saving elsewhere works fine.

Good finding. But I would consider it as a bug as it isn´t MacOS conform.

Cheers

True but neither do other applications, e.g. LaTeX, and I found it a
good policy, years ago, never to use either space or period in
filenames.

So, for instance, instead of

A folder name with white characters

I would have used

FolderNameWithWhiteCharacters.

Years ago? In computer ages? Come on. But we´re on MacOSX and I don´t want to either underscore ( _ ) space nor type out special characters nor maim words we have in the German language for example just to save my work.

Cheers

I would classify this as a bug and I hope this will be fixed. I would submit
a bug report

However I never use spaces for files and folders, for good reasons that are
neither old, nor MacOSX related.

Best.

lol!

Has Intaglio had an update in recent years? er, nope.

I’ve got the iPhone version of Intaglio, but I never use it.
I wish the developer would spend more time improving Intaglio, because it is
a great app.

PS, I’m with Frank on the underscores. Why put up with MS_DOS in Mac OSX?
Anyway, Intaglio should support the AI format, not SVG!

I assume AI = Adobe Illustrator.

In any case, the point is that SVG is free and I use the GNU FDL

Yes, I have essentially stopped suggesting other people to buy Intaglio as
it is good, but it seems a dead project.

Heavens knows why? It’s still a good product. Why sit back and just let the money roll in?
Lazy development if you ask me.

I really don’t know why. It is perceived as a very good product
(albeit with a few frustrating bugs) among academics, and I have tried
to Contact the developer, to no avail

This is just one guy, working alone.
He finished producing the current version and immediately after reworked it for the iPad, iPhone and iPod.
How many hours in a day does he have?
I’d imagine by now he’s sick of the sight of it .
He’s produced a magic product at a good price and has a good help community to answer most questions.
Intaglio does not have every possible bell and whistle but that never ending stream of user demands for enhancements is precisely the mark of a good product: people want to use it in ever more interesting ways.
I too would love it if it did a few of the extra things but so what. I do those using something else.

I am grateful to the developer, and I did not hesitate to pay for this
software. I would not hesitate to pay more (and to convince my colleagues to
adopt it) if the development did not stop.

According to a contributor to Macintouch, Intaglio has just been updated to v3.1.3. It has improved SVG Import.
