The main problem with this email-based forum is......

The main problem, IMHO, with this email-based forum is that no one can
upload their Intaglio creations.

There is a brilliant Cocoa-based application for Mac OS X that I also
use called ‘Cheetah3D’ (C3D).
Because C3D’s forum is phpbb based, many great C3D examples can be
uploaded to the forum.

I suppose the one good thing about this type of Majordomo (majordomo?)
type forum is you get
nil porn spamming, but to be honest, I’ve never noticed any of this
nonsense on the C3D forum either.

I’m sure that there are many proud Intaglio users here? I sure am for
one, however I use Intaglio for a more
cost effective version of Adobe InDesign -Intaglio is a lot quicker too!

To be honest, I find the text-based tools in Intaglio a tad
frustration to use, and am a little disappointed
that V3 hasn’t improved these tools much. I think if people were able
to show you what they use Intaglio
for, you’d have a better understanding, imo, why these tools need
improvements.
Not only that, a phpbb (or similar) forum could be a great marketing
tool too!

So Nick, with version 3 imminent, what do you think?

I’m moaning about the text tool because I am using it right now
and its driving me nuts.

I’m using Intaglio to create the layouts for 3 A3 (English not American)
presentation boards and although I can make a text box, and highlight
a particular part of the text to change the font, I can’t change the
colour!

Not having a text wrap-around feature, is also really frustrating.

Also- not to do with text…

when applying a drop shadow, is it too hard to get the effects to
remember
the last setting you used? Because having to flip back and forth between
effects windows to copy settings, is really frustrating.

And not having a decent spellchecker, is really annoying. The
‘workaround’
is not very good.

Also I’ve noticed on a couple of times, arrowheads that have been
assigned to
lines, disappearing. I’ll keep an eye on that one.

Hi Tom,

You could upload your images to imageshack http://imageshack.us/ or
photobucket http://photobucket.com/ and link to them in your posts.

Since everyone that subscribes by mail receives all posts it would be
a nightmare to have to download huge amounts of images in posts that
they may not be able to help with.

Regards,

Joe

Yes, I know.

Yes of course, but this happens only through text based email, not web
browsers.
FWIW, have you seen this;

Currently the forum software is provided by Softpress and I don’t have any say about what they use. Text handling improvements are on the list for updates but of course we’re always interested in suggestions via e-mail to intaglio @ puragatorydesign.com.
