The most universal audio player?

If you’re going for universal, this would be your absolute last
choice. Best to use something Flash-based if you don’t care about
iPhone or touch users, or stick to QuickTime if you do. Everyone who
owns an iPod has QuickTime installed on their computer. They may not
know that, but they do. The iPod is the Trojan horse of multimedia if
there ever was one.

What would be very nice to have would be an item action that offered
a picker for selecting an MP3 file and wrote sniffer code into the
HTML output to detect QT and hand over to Windows Media Player if it
wasn’t installed and the visitor was using Windows. Not sure what the
choice would be for Linux/Unix users though.
