"this style cannot be applied to text" - what does this mean?

I’m getting this error: “this style cannot be applied to text” after creating a new style and trying to apply it to my body text. Doesn’t make much sense to me so if someone can tell me what it means I’d be grateful.

What’s the style called?

It was called ‘body’. I’ve changed it to ‘.body’ and seems to be okay. Was that the problem? I’m not really clear on the significance of the full stop.

I’m in a rush so perhaps someone else can explain more fully - but it
sounds like you put the word “body” into the Tag field in the Edit
Styles dialog. Unless you want to create styles that automatically
apply to things that are wrapped within HTML tags of the same name
(in which case you don’t apply them, they get used automatically),
stick to the Name field for naming your styles.

Sorry for the rushed reply!

That makes sense to me.
