Would greatly appreciate any tips and suggestions…

Thinking of adding a mobile site to a clients website using the iPhone/iPad direct action, but have one or two questions that I’m hoping someone could be so kind as to advise me with…

If I go ahead and build a duplicate a mobile site as to lighten the page size, low graphics, shorter text etc…

Is there a possibility that Google may replace or index the mobile site so conflict with the main site. In other words, list the mobile pages in google results instead of the main pages use when visiting from a PC?

Secondly, if I build a mobile site do I include the same meta tags or emit them altogether, or add extra code to my /sitemap.xml file to prevent Google registering the mobile pages, although I’m not sure what code I add.….

Hope someone could be so kind as to help…

Paul

Thinking of adding a mobile site to a clients website using the iPhone/iPad direct action

The iphone/ipad redirect action is really there to divert iOS away from pages that contain iOS unfriendly stuff like Flash to iOS friendly content like HTML 5 video/QT instead.

There is no great need (some may disagree) to create a whole new site for iOS. Mobile Safari does a great job of rendering standard sites on these devices.

Have you looked at the site in question on an iOS device?

It looks OK on both iPhone and iPad
