Thumblie

I love EXHIBEO and I’m trying to use the “THUMBLIE” theme in one portfolio website I have. However there’s one thing I miss from the old Showcase, that Exhibeo doesn’t have. In Showcase when you open a thumbnail and click on the image you automatically goes to the next thumbnail or goes back to the previous thumbnail, depending if you click on the left or the right side of the thumbnail. To leave the presentation you just click outside the thumbnail and that’s it. In Exhibeo you have to use the arrows to move forward or backward and have to click on the “X” to get out. Is there a way I could customize this in order to make it work like I want?

Thanks a lot!
Marcus

There are probably a zillion slideshow packages you could use besides
Exhibeo - why stick with this Exhibeo presentation if it’s not what you
want?

Hello Marcus,

I also use Exhibio Thumlie exclusively.
I agree with you about the arrows and ³X¹ icons.
If I am on my 27² iMac I can see everything just great.
When I am on my iPhone I can hardly see the icons plus the user does not
know what they are.
Freeway is a great product and I use it.
Softpress has not been taking all the suggestions for improvement for
Exhibio and implementing them.
They always come up with the same response and say they are using all
their resources on the new upcoming version of Freeway.
This is the main reason I refuse to pay for the upgrade to version 7.
Softpress: After 2 years fix Exhibio and then I will support you!!

Sincerely,

– Jerry Jambazian

Hi Ernie, thanks for your answer.
Yes, you’re right. I like Exhibeo and the way it’s built. My only inconvenient was this detail of moving forward or backward, but I’ll take a look at other slideshow packages.

Thanks again,
Marcus

Thanks Jerry.
Yes, you got it. I also tried it in a iPhone and I could barely see the little “X” or arrows. I believe I’ll follow Ernie’s advice. After all there are plenty of slideshows packages.

Thanks again,
Marcus

Ernie’s advice

Just to be clear, I’m not advocating your abandonment of Exhibeo - more
like I was interested in underlining why you may have used it in the first
place. Conventional wisdom is slideshow-like things tend to be complicated
and/or expensive, and while this Exhibeo slideshow may not be “perfect” it
is ridiculously easy to produce in comparison.

I like using Exhibeo myself - it is quite possibly the best code-generator
Softpress has ever built.

Hi Ernie,

no problem. I didn’t take it that way. I won’t abandon Exhibeo because of this detail. It’s really easier and much less expensive than other slideshows I’ve found. I will still use the other themes though

best,
Marcus

It’s a free world Marcus - and I am by far not the Exhibeo loyalty officer

Exhibeo is far from perfect, even far from complete - it really needs a bit
more development. Not to overdo things but just some of what I would call
“finishing touches”. Like Freeway, there’s a lot of things you can do to
hack the code so as to get what you want - but that depends on using the
product in a way that contravenes the simplicity it is famous for.

Cheers!
