Has anyone worked with this action? I have gotten all of the simple link actions to work just fine. My question is about working with the Multi Price Select Action.
As per the documentation I have created an HTML item and applied the Mal’s Buy Form Setup Action. He states that you don’t need to fill in anything for the product name or price fields – as these fields will be handled by the form elements contained within – such as with the multiform select actions.
However, if I do NOT add a price to the Form Setup Action – I get an error message telling me that the value is too low and it resets it.
Obviously this causes problems because Mal’s cart tries to process the price on the Form setup - ignoring the form elements inside.
What is the price you are trying to set? There was an issue with an earlier
version of the action that meant that certain values were getting incorrectly
rounded down and kicked out on the validation stage. Although the action has
since been updated to handle this it could still be having issues here.
Send me a sample Freeway page (I don’t need the whole site, images or other
resources) that demonstrates the issue and I’ll take a closer look. Often
looking at the exact file is several magnitudes quicker than attempting to
figure this out over email.
Please send it to tim [at] freewayactions [dot] com
Thanks,
Tim.

Hi Marcel,
Yes, I think so. I stripped this action right back to it’s bare bones and it was still having problems getting items validated using the hash verification in the Mals cart. I then created a sample site by hand and using Mals own button maker tools and the thing still failed on certain items. After much hair pulling I finally admitted defeat and e-mailed Mal himself asking for any help he could provide.
Thankfully Mal got back to me about a week or so ago with news that he’d found a bug in the shopping cart around the hash verification on multi-price select lists and had fixed it. Sure enough both my hand coded example site and the reworked action worked perfectly!
I’ve sent the revised action out to a handful of registered users so far and although feedback has been slow I expect to be able to roll this into a revised suite later this week. Earlier if I can.
Although the action structures the code differently to the previous version the interface in exactly the same and you should be able to simply swap the actions and publish to get the new code into your site.
Regards,
Tim.

Tim,
I’m experiencing the same problems. Have you figured what is causing this.

I’m not sure if the update will address my problem, but here’s my question.
I’ve set up a shopping cart on a clients site using this action and it’s all working perfectly except for the “multi-price select”. I have this action two other places and it works fine but it this particular location the Prices are dependent on the weights. When it’s added to the cart the cart says that the shipper hasn’t entered a shipping value. I’ve enter the weight values for each item and yet I always get the error message.
My client is losing patience with me. The problem is the last item - Sausage Seasoning.
Hi Chod,
Apologies for the delay. I’ve just got back from a short family trip.
Did you get this issue resolved? I can’t seem to reproduce the error. I’m adjusting the casing and quantity settings for the Sausage Seasoning product and each gets submitted to the cart quite happily.
If you are still stuck please send me a sample Freeway file directly to tim [at] freewayactions [dot] com
Thanks,
Tim.

Strangest thing. ALL IS WORKING NOW! Apparently it was working but not on my desktop computer. A friend suggested trying to look at it on a different computer and all is well.
Hey tech guys. Explain that to me. That’s a mistake I hope I never make again. Now the laptop will be by my side every time I check a page.
Hi, I’m also getting the Link Verification Failure error on a multi-select list. I’ve tried it both with and without the Link Verification activated on Mal’s ecommerce with no change. I have simple buy buttons working successfully on my site, just not this.
The version of Mal’s Ecommerce Suite I bought and downloaded today is dated 30th June 2008, is this the updated version that copes with this issue, or do I need to download an update from somewhere?
Hi Ian,
The version you have should cope with the changes made to the Mals store earlier
in the year in regard to the link and hash code validation routines.
Although I’m going to be away on vacation next week if you can send me a sample
Freeway file that demonstrates the issue today then I should be able to look at
this before I go.
Thanks,
Tim.

as bought the suite a few days ago, I have Ians Problems with the link verification too. On a single buy button it works fine but not within the buy forms setup. At that time I`m absolute unsure if the problem is sitting in front of the screen or where I should work on further.
I am not able to select either no price or 0.00 as a price on either Mal’s Buy Form Setup or Mal’s Buy Button. Either the form price or button price is over riding the price I have set in Mal’s Multiprice Select.
Hi Darren,
Looking at your page source code it looks like you’ve inserted a buy button in the form. This is reseting the price for the items contained in the parent form and is only submiting it’s own product details. Simply replace this with a regular submit button (Insert > Button) and the form will submit as expected to the Mals cart.
Let me know how you get on with this.
Regards,
Tim.

Thanks for your reply, sorry for the delay getting back, this is the first chance I’ve had to look at it.
I have changed the Mal’s buy now button for a plain submit button, however now when I click on it the page just refreshes rather than taking me to the shopping cart.
Sorry to be a pain, clearly I am doing something wrong, but I have not been able to work out what.
Thanks
Darren
Hi Dave
Totally agree with you! I am still working on the cart look. Once I found it wasn’t working right I focused on that rather than finalising the look, but thank you for your comments,it’s always goos to get other peoples views and idea.
Just a quick update, as I am still playing around with it.
I started a fresh on a second item to sell. The only things I altered in the form setup were server address, user ID, language and the key code (not the product name or price). This initially work, but was adding two items to my shopping, one from the multiprice select and one from the form setup.
I then removed the item name, tried to remove the price but it wouldn’t let me, so made the price the same as the first item on my multiprice list. This stopped the link going to the cart and does the same as my first item and refreshes the page.
I then gave the item a name, but no change, it still just refreshed the page.
I will keep playing, but any advise as to what i’m doing wrong is much appreciated.
There’s definitely something messed up with the Action. I did a simple two-state effect with thumbnails, and only the second thumbnail appeared initially. After I clicked on the second thumbnail, the first one appeared, and the rest of the effect worked fine. I’ll try to take a look at it later.
I have just increased the price on the form setup back to 100.00. It is now submitting, but again is putting two products in the cart at the same time. One from the form setup and one from the multiprice.
I then removed the product name and it doesn’t go to the cart again. Also I have noticed that when there is no product name there is no quantity in the quantity field, with a name the quantity field defaults to 1.
Hi Walter,
Were you talking about the Mals Multi-Price Select Action here? It looks like you’ve cross posted by mistake.
Regards,
Tim.
