Toggling menu buttons states and moving items

I’m working on a menu. Its quite simple in concept but I appear to be missing something which may be more obvious than I am aware.
Thers a sample here:

The idea I want to achieve is that when each button is clicked then it moves the related box down whilst at the same time changing the button state from the blue as the default to green, which reveals the box and then the reverse when the button is pressed again which moves the box back up and everts the button to its default state.
To further complicate this if one of the boxes is triggered and a user then clicks on the other button, then that would not only trigger its own box moving down but will also revert the other button back to its default state.
As I am typing this I am already wondering if this is achievable with CSS menus although I already have one of those as the main menu on the fully set up page.

Hope that this all makes sense to anyone reading it!
Cheers

Anthony

I noticed that Delta Dave had commented on another thread regards this matter with an example here:
http://www.deltadesign.co/fw_examples/rollover.html

Is it possible to extend this so that when the button is clicked again to close or more the layer it triggers, that it would revert back to its unset, default stage which in Daves example would be the letter ‘D’?

It sort of ties into what I am blethering on about in this post.
Its how this image changing can be realted to the other buttons on the page that I am trying to achieve.
