TransitionFX and unwanted quick previews

Hi

On this recently built site http://www.cornelie-de-jong.com/ the first page has the action TransitionFX (on trigger / slide up) applied to a to a graphic box containing text and images which covers just about the whole of the page. Click anywhere on the page and this triggers the action - a "curtain’ slides up revealing more text and four photographs. All well and fine.
However I (and the client) ask why do we get a micro second of a preview of the underlying images prior to the whole page loading when viewed in Safari (but not in Firefox?)

This may sound like we are being a little fussy but nevertheless it would be just lovely if I could get the page to load smoothly and cleanly, no flicker and no flashy previews.

Any body else found this happening/knows how to prevent it?

The reason this is happening is because those items are loading before
the one with the TFX Action applied. I see the same thing happening in
FF 3.5 too. To get them to hide before loading try applying the TFX
Action to them too but check their On Page Load option, make them
hidden initially and choose Appear with a fast duration and no delay
(you may have to play with the delay, and remember, you can use
decimals in there such as 0.1). By doing this they should only fade in
once everything else has loaded.

Hope this helps.

Joe

Hello Joe and thanks for the reply.

What you suggested is something I did try earlier this week but no, it wouldn’t get rid of that quick preview flash. I have since persevered with variations on the idea. Initially they were individual items each with their own action. Now all the items -photos & HTML text - are children of a large white HTML item which then has the TFX action applied to it. Even with a delay of 2 seconds it still wants to make its presence known immediately before doing what its told.

Would the TFX slide up action in front be somehow causing interference and should I try to change this in someway?

Regards Richard

Hi Joe and anyone else following this. I think I have fixed it. It may be that it is so obvious you assumed I would have done it - make the rising curtain an HTML item not a graphic.

This seems to have resolved it but I have yet to check it on a variety of machines/browsers (or get feed back from the client)

Best wishes,

Richard
