Trouble With E Buy Form!

Howdy all.

I have created a new site that has e-buy forms on various pages [ html items with the e-buy form action applied, text field as e-quantity and custom graphic button as e-buy button]
All looks lovely but it doesn’t work!
If i remove the custom graphic button and the e-buy button action, which allows the form to add the default grey button it works fine.
I have tried the custom button as an HTML pass through graphic and a simple graphic item but no joy. I have even created a graphic box, coloured it and added the e-buy button action to that, and whilst freeway always recognises the existence of the ‘custom button’ and removes the default one, the button does not work.

What do you think i am doing wrong.

Thanks

Alan.

Post a link.

Are you using the e-buy variations?

Hi Dave

All I have included in the E-Buy Form item is the Quantity and the E-Buy Button. I’ve uploaded it to some spare hosting for you to see.

http://alan-herbert.co.uk/tanning-mitt.html

I have taken out loads of stuff - he sobs - but still it grieves me.

At the bottom of the page i have added 3 new instances of the form. One is practically the same as the one within the page layout itself. The second is without the ‘custom button’ and it works, the third is just the e-buy button on it’s own and that works too.

But, i wanted the e-buy form to work so they could choose a quantity before they proceeded to the checkout.

Let me know what you think - Apart from it’s very pink. Some of the features wont work as the secure log in areas etc are installed on the intended hosting.

thanks

Alan…

I assume that you followed these steps - as I did.

Using a custom button for an E-Buy Form
If you would like to use a button for an E-Buy Form that is different to the one which is added automatically, simply create a child graphic item or HTML button of the E-Buy Form and apply the E-Buy Button Action to the child.
Freeway will automatically recognize that this button is present and will use it as the button to submit the form, and will not output the default button.

And I am afraid that I got the same result as you - nada!

I suggest that you send a request to support(@)softpress.com

Sorry I can’t be of more help.

Thanks for looking at this Dave. I can see what the issue is although I’m uncertain why exactly it is happening in Freeway. The graphic button attempts to submit the form using a simple JavaScript that looks for the form in the page. Unfortunately the form and it’s parent div (layer) both have the same id (a big no, no in the web world) so the script fails.
If one of you can send in a sample Freeway document (to the address below and for my attention) I should be able to suggest a solution and file a bug on the issue.
Thanks,
Tim.

Dave, thanks for looking into this for me. Your time is appreciated.

Tim, I will send you in a Freeway file as requested.

For now I will have to rebuild the site without the forms, hence my 5 am start as this is supposed to be up and running by start of business today. the weird thing is that when i created the first one to see if it worked, it was fine!

Just another of likes flukes perhaps.

Thank for your help.

Thanks Alan. I’ll look out for the file when it comes in.
For the moment you could possibly remedy the issue by adding your image to the buy form and setting this to ‘Submit’ in the Inspector palette.
Regards,
Tim.
