UK counties list for a web form

walt, i am using a table based form, I have approx 20 selections in the list, before each item in the list i have inserted a radio button and used the Form Element Styler action. i was initially hoping that there would be an option in the inspector menu that says ‘multiple selection’ but i can’t see one?

the purpose of my list is to ask users what products and services that they are interested in so every item in the list is different. i have placed the list into a single cell in the table

Hi Tim

No sooner requested than done. With Walter’s help the action has been revised to Version 1.1 which does indeed use Optgroup to make the three country subheadings (England, Wales and Scotland) unselectable.

I have also removed the extra Welsh county names to make the selector a more manageable length. You can of course edit your own implementation on your FW page to put them back in.

The revised version is available at http://www.actionsforge.com/

A radio button is by its very nature a one-choice thing. Unless you
make a separate radio group for each button, you can’t do what you
want. A checkbox is precisely the correct form element to use for this
case. It permits multiple selections because that’s what it’s designed
for.

You don’t have to name the choices the way I suggested, if you like,
you can simply name each checkbox for what the choice is:

<input type="checkbox" name="fish" value="1" />
<input type="checkbox" name="fown" value="1" />

If you submit a form with a checkbox un-checked, that element will
simply not be present in the data sent to the server. If it is
checked, then it will appear as a variable named the same as the
field, carrying the value you assigned that field.
