Unexpected Includes behaviour

I’m trying my hand at some simple(!) includes to shorten the time I spend updating a particular site. In Freeway I’ve set up a page for the inserted element and use the “PHP Make Insert Page” action to remove the head code from the resulting page. Then on the page where I’m placing the inserted element, I use the PHP string

<?php include("head1.html"); ?>

in a markup item to call the inserted html. Works for the most part, except for something unexpected… Freeway (4 and 5) writes the filename of the inserted html page into the beginning of all html divs from the included html. So if the included html contains div structures like

then Freeway writes the included code as

http://www.thebigerns.com/freeway/

This is a Feature of the Action. It’s really quite necessary to make
sure that you don’t end up with id clashes. If I have some time this
weekend, I will take a look and see if I can add a toggle to this
behavior. If you want to try my Template Helper instead, that’s
something you might find useful. For one, it allows you to write your
own ID in the Action interface, as well as remove all IDs,
positioning, etc. Another nice thing is that you can make many
includes on one page, even on the side of the page you want to use
the includes.

Give it a try, available where Free Actions congregate.

Go here: http://freewaypro.com/actions/downloads/

And get the .fwaction version, not the .act3 version. Let me know if this does what you need.

Also do try the TemplateHelper, it’s great with ground beef, or weasel, whatever you have handy.

I will give both of these a go and see what trouble I can get into :wink: Thanks for your help and insight Walter.
