This may not be a beta issue, no clue. When I type in the domain name and subdirectory where I have placed the beta site, the address bar drops the “www” at the beginning. Is this normal behavior?

In your browser? This sounds like nothing more than the way your web
host is set to serve your site. It isn’t anything that Freeway could
even begin to affect, regardless of whether it is beta or not!
With things like this, it is much easier for us to offer advice if
you could supply a URL. Although I realise that with beta versions of
sites you may not want to publicise the address right now.

From FW5 it is uploaded to the folder public_html/fw5 - is this part of the reason?

Don’t worry about it. That’s simply how your hosting is set up. You
could look at your control panel or contact support to see if you can
have it set to preserve the www. part, but it sounds like it is set
to work anyway.
(It would normally help to be able to see the real URL, but in this
case it seems pretty obvious.)

Nope, that’s the FTP path. That uses an entirely different data
transfer protocol, FTP rather than HTTP, and won’t necessarily
reflect what you do in the browser’s address bar.
