User login option

I have a client that needs his web users to fill out a form and submit a username/password in order to view some content.

It’s a list of properties for sale but he only wants them to view the pages with the price info once they are logged in.

Any ideas of how to go about something like this.

You could use this PHP code:

I’m not sure how well this works, I haven’t checked it out well enough.

I don’t think you should use this if you don’t like PHP code (or if you don’t think you know it well enough). But this site has got a very good learning material for beginners!

Take a look at Sitelok. It may be more than you need, but it covers a lot of the login bits…and it’s cheap.

Chuckamuck,

Have you used it, uploaded to your host’s server? Is this something that requires a knowledge of php, mysql to use? Do you think a freeway user with no knowledge of coding could make it work?

I quickly browsed the manual, it looks like a nice piece of software

No, but it looks pretty straight forward.

Yes on MYSQL, no on PHP

Do you think a freeway user with no knowledge of coding could make it work?

Well…it’s possible, just depends on how much time and energy you have to put into learning the basics of setting up a MYSQL database, which depending on your host service can be simple or complicated. Your host should have some kind of control panel for setting these up.

I took a look at the manual as well and it is pretty simple to get going. Implementing it with Freeway should be easy squeezy as Sitelok just denies access to published html pages you designate.

I have been using Omni-Secure http://www.omni-secure.com/index.php for
almost a year now for one of my membership sites. Its basically folder
protection and rights management. The company will install it for
you, the setup up is fairly easy and you can use their stock
registration forms or you can customize your own. It works great with
PayPal and PHPBB integration as well. Only downfall is that it costs
$197.

Hi,

Just noticed this thread and wanted to introduce myself. I am the developer of Sitelok mentioned above. I haven’t used Freeway before but I would be willing to help install Sitelok with no obligation. I am a Mac user and have installed Sitelok successfully with my site which uses Rapidweaver, so I am sure Freeway should be no problem. You can contact me direct using the contact form on our site if required.

Thanks for all the replies, this forum is awesome.

Adrian I will contact you when I’m closer to implementing the user logins – should be sometime next week

Cheers, Marcel

Whoa. I ran across Sitelok about a year ago and was very impressed with the way it operates and wanted to research it further. I lost the bookmark to the site, couldn’t remember the name and have searched quite a bit (not remembering the name) to find it. Now I’ve found it again. Thanks chuckamuck.

Timely…I’ve been configuring Sitelok Buy Membership Software and Systems Online UK | Vibralogix
on my “still in work” freeway site (http://pacwestsfs.org/pacwestsfs1.php
) this weekend.

Adrian Jones, the software’s developer has been absolutely amazing
with his willingness to work with me ( a non coder) to get everything
configured and over the weekend no less!

The more I work with it, the easier it is to grasp.

I highly recommend Sitelok (and Adrian) if you’re thinking about
securing your site’s pages.

I used Authpro.com ( a subscription service) on one of my earlier
sites but Sitelok does everything Authpro does and more plus it’s a
very reasonable ($39.95) one time charge for a site license.

I’m hoping that one of our superb action writers takes a look at this
program, its ripe for an action to make it seamless with freeway on
par with WebYep.

Adrian also develops Linklok for Mals - which allows encrypted links for
download products. I use this - a non coder - and testify to Adrian’s
kindness and commitment to his software and customers.

all the best

William, can you share a bit more on setting up the forms in FW. I have installed Sitelok, setup the admin and managed to get the pages secure, but now I’m not smart enough to figure out how to get the login and registration forms to work.

All and any help is always appreciated

Cheers - Marcel

I love the looks of omni-secure and have the trial version uploaded to my server. BUT I CAN’T get the sign up form to upload properly. what am i doing wrong? The “adding custom HTML” isn’t working and omni isn’t giving me a hint what the problem is. It’s a case of everyone pointing their finger at everyone else.

My goodness - I have decided very much dislike omni-secure and took it off my site. I went with Sitelok and my goodness is it easier. And I can’t say enough for Adrain Jones. If you are having problems contact Adrain. Just remember he is across the ocean and in another time zone. He solved my login and php with just a few emails
