Using CSS to Build a Site Tutorial

Is there a tutorial around for using CSS (CSS button clicked on!) for building a site in Freeway?

I’m having a hard time getting started because I’m not used to the way boxes are nested. They are a lot like anchored or inline graphics in InDesign or Quark, and I hated them there, too!

It’s difficult to figure out how to move things around. Getting things to the right, left, middle, evening things out, etc.

Any tips, hints or tuts would be welcome.

Thanks…

Is there a tutorial around for using CSS

Hi Robert,

This is a good one:
http://www.archiva.net/pdf/fw_tutorial.pdf

Also check out Big Ern’s posts- on his site there are some great examples you can download and pick apart.

I’m also trying to learn some of these ins and outs.

Thanks, Jim. I’ll check these out.

I know CSS is better in the long run, but not so easy to set up. Even in a WYSISYG editor, it requires quite a bit of forethought.

Thanks again.

That PDF is pretty old. I was hoping for something for v5.

I’ll check out Big Ern’s site, too.

Paula’s tutorial is what gave me the insight into CSS and how it
worked. In my post to Hugh recently, I talked about ‘getting it’ in a
simple way which opened many doors to more complex concepts; I wasn’t
talking specifically about this PDF then, but for me, it sums it all
up. If you work through it, you’ll know some valuable things at the
end of it. It doesn’t really matter which version of Freeway you use
to do it with.

best wishes,

I could make a screen cast using Freeway 5 Pro on using CSS. I was working on one for using a box-model, but I could show a basic run down if requested.

I like making them and find them fun.

Go for it Mitchell - there are plenty of folk here that would appreciate it.

You have my vote, Mitchell!

I’d like to see a site designed with the CSS button on and see how the layers and inflow items are put together.

I was messing around a bit yesterday, but pretty much made a mess of boxes inside another box that I couldn’t control.

K, I’ll get working on it and post a link here when it’s done.

Posted updated links for a new Part #2 (including a new 10 minute screen-cast and sample file) on my BlogSpot page.

Enjoy!

Dan…

Thanks for the tutorials. Still trying to get my head around CSS containers and how many I actually need when building a page. Still using the “old” html way for now.

I looked around your portfolio, too. VERY nice work. Print work, web work, all very attractive pieces.

I’ve been in print work for, well, forever, and just starting to get into web work. Your work is inspiring.

Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Robert, I appreciate it.

If there’s any other screen-cast’s you’d like to see don’t hesitate to post a request for them either here or leave a comment on one of my posts on my blogspot page.
