Video capture software for tutorials

Anyone have any suggestions for creating video tutorials like the Freeway Moments?

I am playing with Jing right now (it’s free) and am not too sure if it will suit my needs.

Thanks.

There are quite a few out there…

Screenflow $99 Video Editing and Screen Recording Software | ScreenFlow

SnapzProX $69 http://www.ambrosiasw.com/utilities/snapzprox/

iShowU $20 iShowU Instant | Awesome realtime screen recording for macOS

iShowU HD Pro $59.95 Upgrade your iShowU | shinywhitebox - screen recording for your mac

ScreenMimic $65 http://www.decimus.net/ScreenMimic.php

Screenium £20 Screenium - Screencasts and screen recording for Mac

I use SnapzProX and iShowU mainly, but I have just purchased an upgrade to iShowU HD Pro to see how I get on with it. Screenflow is getting good reviews, but it’s all about preference, cost and software features.

Hope these links help,

Craig

I use ScreenFlow for the Freeway Moments - your source files are much, much smaller than those produced by SnapzPro. I’m talking a few MB against a few GB.

Thanks. I will check these out.

Jing is pretty cool, but it has some major limitations.

You can’t scale the movie and when I applied the Flash scaling in FW it still doesn’t fit in the box. It also finishes with a big Jing logo at the end, which doesn’t look good for a business site.

Ouch. Perhaps SnapzProX needs to be told to use a different
compressor? It sounds like it has defaulted to either one that’s
inefficient with that kind of content or no compression at all.
