Video sniffer

I’ve read quite a bit on the forum about browser sniffers. My question is how to build a video sniffer? (yes, I know the objections to sniffers).

I want to have all my videos play in QT if possible and Flash if QT is not installed.

(I have had too many instances of directing people to Apple’s link for QT and get the response ‘It won’t play’ because they didn’t install the plug-in).

I assume there is need for php, javascript or another language, but I’m hoping it can be fairly simple.

Thanks.

Hi George,
Try this sample from Apple’s web site;
http://tuvix.apple.com/internet/webcontent/detectplugins.html
and specifically this test and redirect example;
http://tuvix.apple.com/internet/webcontent/examples/detectredirect.shtml
Regards,
Tim.

Thanks Tim.

This seems pretty old - talking about IE5, Netscape, etc. Hopefully it’s still valid and I can figure it out.
