Vista

A bit of help needed if possible. Does anyone have access to Windows Vista?

Basically I have set-up a form that has form validation applied to some of the fields. This is then sent to SalesForce CRM and the user is directed to a page where they can download Whitepapers. My client says that they are receiving the odd entry in SalesForce without an e-mail address (which is one of the fields that requires validation).

I have tried it in Safari and Firefox in OSX and also in IE6 on the PC, but just wondered if it was a problem with IE in Vista.

Would really appreciate any help/advise just so that I can say I have tested it in all relevent browers OS/s and it works.

Is this validation in JavaScript, or in a server-side scripting
language?

If you are counting on JavaScript for any sort of real validation,
you are wasting your faith. Some people work in managed IT
environments, or just have the mistaken belief that that scripting is
risky. If JavaScript is thus turned off, your validation won’t do
anything.

Your client can either expect a small trickle of these, or they can
invest in a server-side validation of the form before mail is sent.
But you leave the test grading in the hands of the subject when you
use JavaScript for this purpose.

I did try turning javascript off in the browser, but validation warnings still appeared when I tried to submit the form without filling in the fields.

Then it must not have been off. I don’t know how it could be
otherwise, since the Action uses JavaScript to present the error
messages. No Script == No Messages.

Mmm weird. When using Firefox…

When javascript is enabled a window apears saying which fields were not filled in.
When javascript is disabled then red text appears above each relevant field stated that it has not been filled in.

I will advise them about the server-side scripting though.

I had a quick look through the Action code. It appears that if you
turn script off, then the error messages would appear for all fields
– whether they were completed correctly or not.
