This is my first real completed for someone else, going live after
your thoughts…
This is for my daughters day care…
as usual honesty is what I love from y’all.
I just have one issue… on the bottom of the page, where I have my
name… It opens in the same window… how can I fix that… I know there
is a simple one i think… but ideas?

To be honest Julie, it looks pretty much like it did before, and I
seem to have said quite a mouthful about it in the past, so no point
in repeating it. But just to sum up:
Inconsistency: on some pages the text is left aligned, on others it’s
centre aligned; look at how odd the text on the ‘About Us’ page looks,
with the words ‘oriented activities’ and ‘our community’ stuck right
in the middle at the bottom of each paragraph. Centred text makes
reading much harder for everyone.
Your drop-down menu looks, for want of a better word, bald. There’s no
background on the drop-down part, so you can see stuff through it.
Also, the drop-down links have no ‘hover’ colour set, so there’s no
easy telling which one you’re on before you click. This is really easy
to set up in the Freeway CSS menu, and I don’t understand why you
haven’t done it?
On the ‘Welcome’ and ‘About Us’ pages, the whole page still breaks up
if you enlarge the text, and gets lost underneath the green footer. In
fact, this happens on all pages, but on some pages, there isn’t enough
text for it to be so noticeable.
Much better than earlier versions Julie, so along with Paul’s comments
below I’d like to add that the ‘Staff Room Staff’ lists don’t line up
properly. The words ‘Miss…(whoever)’ should all be left aligned and at
the moment it looks like a few names have spaces before them.

There are a couple of things that are centered… the location, the
quote about roots and wings… I need those centered.

my CSS menu, I did a hover color. but with the drop down the whole
thing changes color as the whole thing is being hovered not just the
individual words… how can I correct this?
I un centered the hours etc (about us) … but I do need the top
centered… did not look right when I changed it.

Well, as in the old joke: I wouldn’t start from here. You need to make
sure that your various boxes are all within a single containing box
which will expand as the text gets bigger, and will allow the higher
boxes to push the footer down to make room. If you do a search on the
forum for ‘box model’ you should find enough to keep you reading for a
few days I believe Dan J has a really good tutorial on this at: http://danjasker.blogspot.com/2008/07/fw5-understanding-box-model.html
It’s not trivial though; it means redoing the entire site using a
process which is not intuitive for Freeway users.
The other way you could do it is by using the old Freeway method with
the CSS button off, by making an actual table on your page into which
you put the various pieces, cell by cell. The advantage of the table
is that the cells automatically stretch to accomodate expanding text.
the only other pieces that are centered are the address and some of
the titles.

but for now I have to use what I have to get it up. But that does not
mean that once I get my arms around the box model, i wont replace it…
thank you for the link

Better too. It’d be even better if the left edge of the ‘roots and
wings’ lined up with the headline ‘Giving Children Roots and Wings’
above it, and with the left edge of the picture below. Also, the GIF
text of the heading is quite jagged.

OK while waiting for more… which I love…
How can i fix an original problem that I brought up?
When you click on my name on the bottom, it opens my page in the same

It’s not the font that’s causing it, although I’d change the font like
a shot anyway
Perhaps do a bit of experimenting setting different anti-aliasing or
colour levels for the GIFs, with ‘Graphics Preview’ turned on.
