Paul and All,

I am sketching out a couple of ideas.

I have seen on your pages “pictures” of the front home page of the
sites you do … How do you get that picture of that? I know how (i
think till the critics step in after I post LOL) But was unsure how
to get the pix to display - which some of you have suggested … by a
pop up with the home page view etc…

Take a screenshot of your browser displaying the site you want to
advertise, then make a Lightbox using that image. You’ll need the
Lightbox action to do that.

Swimmer,
What is your design education background?

I have to be honest, the two clients that told you that are right…I have seen your site progress as you asked questions through this forum. It looks very amateurish.

I know this sounds harsh and I’m sure it sounded even worse from those 2 possible clients, but its the truth. I have 2 design degrees, work as a full time creative director, and teach design as a professor part time.

There is no sense of design…color, typography, and imagery.

Keep at it, some people put some really nice links on board here, I would check them out.

I appreciate your input. Because of this and other comments I am
working on
My home site w a whole new look I will intro it when ready.

But right now I am looking at input about my mock, which btw I used
the template ‘sleek’ from softpress.

As I am going, I am trying to focus and go back through coments so I
try not make the same mistakes.
For instance on the mock, I made sure I just used a web friendly font
plus I made sure things are in line w eachother.
I have a print background and am learning as I go. That is why I ask
so many… Even if they sound stupid… Questions.
I love the critiques because I learn.
My daycare website, I did listen to them and tried to use all
suggestions that allowed me to keep the feel I was looking for.
I know they are beginners… But isn’t that where we all begin and
learn from.

I am thank ful for all of the suggestions and this groups patience w
me. And I know people have seen positive changes in the tlc site

Julie…

I see a problem with the nav bar only on the Press page. And the text “Links” is missing on all secondary pages on the nav bar when you hover over Links.

I think you need to make sort of a skeleton of the whole site, or at least the primary and secondary pages. Right now, you don’t have enough in pages after the Home page for anyone to make any suggestions yet.

Ok,

Thank you. I guess I was asking more for the feel.

The nav bar on the bottom or towards the top? The top one on my screen
is showing uneven top “links” on certain pages. And that is bothering
me.

I will try to pull it apart to recreat it on those pages. Unless u
have a suggestion.

Thanks again I appreciate it

The nav bar at the top of the Press page. It sits lower than the res and the lines separating the different links is off.

Yes that is a problem. I will try to break it down later and try to
fix it. Any suggestions how?

Well, if it’s too much of a pain to take it apart, delete it and just copy and paste a good one in. Freeway will drop it in the same spot as where it was copied from on the page.

No it’s not and most likely the thing to do to learn it. I will copy
and paste too and drag it in place.

Thank you for you help!

Julie, it ain’t so. Several things are out of line in your example:

There are lots of ways to make things line up in Freeway. You have the
Inspector, with x and y coordinates which you can edit; you have
guides you can drag out and snap to, you have a grid you can show and
snap to; you have the alignment tool which will do it for you with a
click or two.
If you think that your elements are all aligned, I don’t really know
what to say. Look harder?

Paul,

Ty for catching that but really I did not move those boxes from the
sleek layout. I know I probably have missed a couple and I will look
again.

Doesn’t really matter — if you showed that to prospective clients,
it’s up to you to ensure that everything, every last little
insignificant thing, is spot on.

Julie…

I’ve been using Lightbox Image which is down a bit on the list of actions on this page:

http://www.coastalrugs.com/Actions/misc.actions.html

It’s very simple, but make sure you read the info that comes with it. You have to have one of the js libraries that is in the FX Actions in FW loaded on the page which isn’t a big deal, make insures that the Action works properly.
