WebCrusher

WebCrusher promises to make your site load faster by optimizing the files. This came from Rage software in the mail today with a coupon for 40% off. My freeway site is about 237mb, and they reduced 100mb from it. My site is 79 pages and graphic heavy. In order to actually upload the “faster” site, you have to pay for the program. If this doesn’t mess up freeway, it sounds pretty good.

In viewing the optimized files, I couldn’t discern any difference in the quality. So back to the question, do you think it will mess up freeway? There is a money back guarantee, so I could try it anyway. Sometimes though, you know, things that seem workable end up being a lot of work. Here is the link:

I’m floored that it’d be 237 MB’s in the first place. I have a 100+ page catalog style one with high-resolution engine photos and other file-giants and it’s like 90 MB’s.

The size of the Freeway file doesn’t matter because inevitably that’s what the Freeway program uses not the internet. The published files however are where the meat and potatoes are and you should be watching the file sizes in that folder in Finder or your FTP program and scan over your Resources folder and see if there’s anything that can be shrunk down in it’s file size.

That must take a long time to load up in Freeway.

Mine is graphic heavy, thanks for the input.

Is there a link or something I can see? I like seeing what other people are doing. If not that’s cool, my thought here though would be for people to find ways to shrink it down for you instead of reverting to a separate program.

Cool, thanks Vicki. I skimmed through the site and you do very nice and detailed paintings, especially on those sewing boxes.

I will admit though that some of the images aren’t loading or perhaps they don’t have ones to show under “Clock Patterns” for example.

I’m using Firefox 3.0 on Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
